Located at Hurontario and Highway 403 and Akin to the bustling streets of downtown Toronto, Mississauga’s City Centre (MCC) retains no traces of the once sleepy suburban town of only a decade before. Transformed into a metropolis for young professionals, new families and booming businesses, the Mississauga City Centre is the pulsing heart of Canada’s 6th largest, and fastest growing city. This bustling area is not only home to one of the largest clusters of residential growth and development, particularly a high-rise condominium boom visible even from Toronto, but is also seeing a growth in amenities and services to match.
As with most notable downtown cores, Mississauga’s City Centre boasts a busy, bustling vibe. With notable architecture, a slew of development and a growing population of young professionals and families, the area has an immediate charm that jumps out at you as you stroll down the streets. A highly walkable neighbourhood, with shops, services, dining and entertaining as well as lush greens space incorporated seamlessly into the gleaming landscape of modern high-rise development, the area offers a liveable, friendly atmosphere that encourages street-oriented pedestrian traffic and activity. One aspect that is immediately apparent in the newness of the area, the recently landscaped corners, new condos and fresh development makes it clear that this up and coming area is ripe with new opportunity for its various residents. You’ll find an eclectic mix of young professionals, new couples and downsizers; and Mississauga has long been known for its proud diversity, reflected best on the busy streets of the MCC.
Now attracting world-class restaurants and bars, the Mississauga entertainment scene has been completely redefined over the past several years. In addition to well-known names like Moxie’s, Earls, Scaddabush, Whole Foods, and The Bier Market, the area also has a number of local dining experiences, like Seoul House, &Company Resto Bar, Grano Ristorante, Udupi Madras Cafe and Alioli Ristorante. A celebrated area for diversity, the area also boasts some of the best Indian restaurants including the famous Nirvana. For a drink with friends, The Failte Irish Pub has been a Mississauga hotspot since 1998. Irish to their core, the charming, old-world atmosphere is perfect from everything from a quick post-work drink to a late-night out.
Driving is still prominent in Mississauga, and the MCC’s quick access to the 403 and 401 caters to this preferred method of commuting. For transit riders and cross-municipal commuters however, the City Centre has been transformed with a comprehensive approach to commuting. The Mississauga transit system, MiiWay has a terminal in the heart of the MCC, and commuters also have access to Go Transit via the Mississauga City Centre Transit Terminal. Recent heavy investments into the city’s transit system, with more on the way has made average commutes into Toronto 30-35 minutes. Another notable investment in Mississauga’s transit future is the Hurontario LRT expansion by Metrolinx, connecting Brampton and Mississauga through two major GO terminals. This project will break ground this year; completed in 2022.
Known as “Canada’s Gateway”, Mississauga’s City Centre enjoys a proximity to the Toronto Pearson Airport that most of the GTA’s population can only dream of. 32 million passengers come through Mississauga each year via the Toronto Pearson Airport, just a short 15-minute drive.
With 25% of homes in the MCC having children, schools continue to be a major factor in determining location. The primarily schools servicing the area are: Chris Hadfield Public School (Grades K-5) Camilla Road Senior Public School (Grades 6-8) T.L. Kennedy Secondary School (Grade 9-12)
