Some good news for new homebuyers across Canada. The 2019 Federal Budget is setting aside funds to potentially aid in covering 10% of the purchase price for new buyers. Called a "shared equity mortgage". Functioning as an interest-free loan which will need to be paid off down the road, an applicant must have a household income of less than $120,000 per year and be able to come up with a five percent down payment.   There has been some media coverage on the slowdown of the real estate market in January in the GTA, with claims that sales in January were at their lowest point since 2015. The markets have been pretty steady in recent months and throughout 2018. Sales activity and demand has tightened up but with the average price of a home in the GTA up by about 2%, it ....
